Perhaps our "blokey blokeness" is why we don't sing all the verses to The Battle Hymn of the Republic (despite some of its more blokey lyrics?)

e.g. -
"In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free,
While God is marching on. "

No, I'm not being quite serious.

@ Joshua,

I didn't know that anyone knew of that hymn any more.

I love the line:
"As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free."

Of course, that was written in the era of the war between the states, but it teaches us a lot about true Christian spirituality.

And also, the lesser known one:
"Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel,
Since God is marching on."
